For years, my colleague whines when I asked him if he was zocken comes. Yes I have too little memory and would first have to uninstall things to install the new game Mimimi. But he also did not want to buy a new hard disk.
In short, I let him send the part directly home. Since then, the whining is over.
Okay, works, hasn't exploded yet.
I already have 2 of the 3TB variant running in my file server. The third one should now be on my desktop as a "data grave". Unfortunately, this third one arrived defective... well. It can happen.
The service case was handled perfectly: return without any problems, a replacement arrived after a week, and it works as expected.
On the subject of noise, which has been mentioned here several times: yes, the thing rotates at 7,2000 revolutions and is therefore *of course* somewhat louder than a WD green, for example.
On the other hand, the intended use is different. You should also pay attention to what the manufacturer actually intends to use it for.
In addition, you can (at least under Linux :P) change the parameters of the hard drive, including spindown and acoustic management. You _can_ get it quiet if you want or have to.
For me personally, the data throughput is more important: with around 145 MB/s for both reading and writing on a SATA3 port, this is absolutely fine and clearly above the WD green mentioned; especially at an extremely fair price.
Conclusion: a decent and reliable drive with good performance at an attractive price per MB.
