Vacuum mopping robot
Roborock S5 Max
Vacuum mopping robot
Software update 28.04.2020:
It can now save 2 floors and the floors can be labeled!
Everyone has been waiting for this update.
Pöstler came at 14Uhr. Immediately set up and clicked clean in the app. The Roborock tells me acoustically "cleaning begins". Geil the part speaks :-) The first cleaning trip begins immediately and I watch simultaneously in the app, as he creates the map. Due to the rotating laser in the tower, almost the entire living/dining room and the kitchen can be seen in the app within seconds. During the first exploration tour, he drives along the walls and then systematically (no crisscrossing) sucks the individual rooms in beautiful paths. Unbelievable how it navigates between the 24 chair legs, plus 4 table legs. There is vacuumed everywhere and nothing is left out. Or how gently it approaches the cat's water bowl. In the entrance area, it automatically detects the carpet and increases the suction power. After that, the wet pick up was tested with bravura.
The device is the absolute hammer and I can recommend it to everyone.

Summary
Bought S5 Max instead of S6 Max due to price difference and only difference, according to my research, is the camera with AI, which is supposed to avoid objects left on the floor. But this was not worth ~180. -Fr difference for me (as at October 2020). In comparison to top dog - iRobot s9+ & M6 combo, S5 Max is way better and performance is awesome. Judged purely on price, iRobot combo costs nearly 5 times more, but does not deliver nearly 5 times better performance, at most 1,5 time better performance and 2 times better convenience. Definitely recommend this robot for those looking for smart home cleaning solution.
Vacuuming & mopping performance
S5 Max vacuums really well, mopping is good too. Carpet cleaning is good so far, I am satisfied. Requires water and mop to be installed manually, but for less than 400 Franks this vacuum delivers amazing value. Glad the packaging includes waterproof mat for the docking/charging station, this means that you don't need to immediately remove wet mop, before it potentially damages your wood floors.
Navigation
I am really pleasantly surprised by the navigation on S5 Max, goes exactly where you tell it to go, cleans and returns home without getting stuck anywhere. Have a few narrow paths in the apartment (in total only 4 cm wider than the robot itself) and S5 Max easily passes through those spots.
App
The app is easy to use (if you ever used a smartphone) and allows a ton of customization. If you want a lot of custom setups, it might take 30-45 min to set everything up. if you just want minimal customization and let robot AI do the work you will be done with the app in 3-5 min. Room splitting is great, no-go zones and no-mop zones are awesome. Tracking the robot in the app is a cool feature, which also shows where S5 Max already cleaned.

The Roborock S5Max is really great! He drives with the timer function with me every day through the apartment while I'm at work, so that the apartment is always top clean when I come home in the evening. I only have to vacuum every few weeks in the corners where he does not reach.
He recognizes objects very well with the lasers and the bumper. At first I was a little worried because we have a lot of decorative elements on the floor, but he goes around them all very well. If he should not suck in a zone, virtual walls can be added in the app. Maximum door threshold height are specified to my knowledge about 2cm, with me he creates after a few attempts even the approx. 2.4cm somewhat rounded door threshold! Only a few times he did not make it and gave up.
The wiping mode is also relatively very good, as the amount of water is automatically regulated. So mops on my parquet with only a little water, while in the kitchen he uses a lot of water. Of course, it is not comparable to wiping by hand and thus not replaceable, but it is still enough to remove the residual dust as well as lighter stains.
Unfortunately, it recognizes my long-floor carpet as an obstacle and doesn't even drive over it. The thin and light carpet in the bathroom, on the other hand, it rolls up with the right brush, or pushes it in front of itself, so that it also does not drive over it. There is still room for improvement here.
The app is exactly what I wanted, with all sorts of features (virtual walls, room and zone cleaning, timer function, go to specific point, etc.). The only thing I would like to see is a function to suspend the set timer once, for example, when I am at home and the vacuum cleaner should not vacuum again automatically until the next day.

This thing is absolutely ingenious. The light radar you gave it lets the vacuum see almost 1:1 what surrounds it and what the room looks like. It builds itself a real map of the apartment and thus detects everything that needs to be vacuumed. If there is ANYTHING in the way, like a chair leg, it is very annoying to him because he can't get to it to vacuum. The only thing that stops him from moving the chair is the bumper that everyone has. Since watching him climb over a 2cm high threshold I wonder why this had to be an issue before. The app is very handy and provides, in my opinion, everything you need to have.

All in all, a very good product with a good price/performance ratio.
The mopping function is good and definitely makes the flat cleaner than just vacuuming. However, it does not completely replace picking up damp by hand.
In certain corners and around chair legs, the device has problems and sometimes doesn't get close enough. Others definitely do that better. Therefore only 4 stars.
