    Support unfortunately unusable

Don't use the app myQNAPcloud. The tool is not secure and with a lot of bad luck your storage will be hacked and all data will be encrypted. Unfortunately, this is what happened to me. QNAP support doesn't offer much help. You get feedback every month. Unfortunately completely unusable.

    Pro

    • Would actually be a good part

    Contra

    • Support
    • QNAPcloud unusable and dangerous

    Price performance top

If 2 bays are sufficient and if you are not planning an expansion because PCIe is missing, there is nothing better on the market for 300 CHF. SSD cache is supported but at the cost of one bay. In return, there is no M2 support and no expansion option, as is the case with the TS-253D-4G, for example.

    Pro

    • 2.5GbE
    • 4GB RAM

    Contra

    • No PCIe expansion
    • No M2 PCIe cache

    Salesman at pick up

The seller at the counter made fun of my question about the so-called "gifts" and announced that this was nothing - was just so for funny. Did not understand his humor!

    Good NAS for private use

If you need a NAS for private use and have the necessary time for configuration, you are well served with this device. QNAP's own operating system "QTS" seems to be much more mature in the current version (as of end of Dec. 2020) than it was a few years ago. The manual for the QTS operating system is over 500 pages long. If you simply want to backup your personal data to another location without much effort, you might be better off with an external hard drive.

    Pro

    • - Many functions and configuration options

    Contra

    • - The many functions are partly well hidden in a sub-sub-menu
