Garmin fenix 3 Sapphire HR

I gave the watch to my father as a gift and he is absolutely thrilled (of course... I didn't have to pay anything :D ).
The watch convinces with the accuracy of the measured values.
Be it the
GPS position (compared with a smartphone)
Heart rate monitor (compared with a blood pressure monitor)
Steps (compared with a pedometer designed only for this purpose)
Calorie consumption (compared with diet and sports programme)
It looks stylish and has many possibilities in use.
Remember positions.
Record path with GPS and navigate back.
Many sport activities to choose from
The battery of the watch lasts approx. 2 weeks in normal use as a watch.
In sports use depending on the 3-6 days.

...the altimeter is not defective. Unfortunately, this issue has been known for a long time with the Fenix 3 HR (see the English and German Garmin forum. The topic is discussed there ad infinitum), but Garmin does not want to admit to it and fix the problem.
The problem manifests itself as follows:
- The altimeter suddenly jumps 30 - 50 metres up or down (at least I reach my daily floor target in three seconds) and needs half an hour, sometimes longer, to return to a normal value (this, by the way, in unchanged weather conditions).
- On really bad days, you have an air pressure of 850, while you are at an altitude of minus 4000 metres...
- Altitude metres are not measured correctly during an activity (either not at all or with utopian numbers).
If you want to know more, you should go to the forums. There has been no solution from Garmin's side for over a year, which suggests a hardware problem (in at least a large part of the devices).
By the way, I was able to compare the device with a Fenix 3 (without HR). The latter has a very precise and reliable altimeter/barometer, which never had the problems mentioned and rarely had to be calibrated.
Otherwise, the device would be top! One of the best multisport watches, which is only surpassed by its successor. But as it is, the device is unfortunately not usable.
Of course, if you can do without the barometer/altimeter (no outdoor activities and certainly not in the mountains), you are well served by this device.

Unfortunately, I cannot give the watch a good rating.
The altimeter and the barometer work very unreliably for me, making these functions absolutely unusable.
The altimeter in particular is indispensable for my needs.
I have already confronted Garmin support with the problem. They told me that there are watches where the altimeter problem can occur and that they are working on a software fix. However, they could not tell me when this fix would be released.
If the problem can be solved, I will be happy to give a better rating.

Best GPS watch on the market.

Currently not usable because the altimeter and the GPS give fantasy values. According to Garmin, the problem is known and they are working on it. Therefore, even a replacement is useless. The very obliging importer is providing me with another watch (Fenix 3 without HR) until the problems are solved.
If you search the net, you will find information in the Garmin Forum.
