The printer is easy to install, compact and functional, and the print image is good. The piano lacquer gets dusty quickly, but you have to accept that.
I find two things annoying:
- The printer cleans the cartridges for about two to three minutes after every (really every) start-up, with corresponding ink consumption. In addition, the service life is probably shortened, as it can be assumed that the ink-residue tank is not replaceable and will render the printer unusable sooner if it overflows. There are various reviews on amazon about this, which I have unfortunately thrown to the wind.
The only way to solve the problem is permanent standby, which is still acceptable given the very low power consumption of around 1 watt. Even then, however, cleaning runs occur after longer periods of inactivity.
If you use the printer only occasionally, always switch it off in an ecologically correct way and use original cartridges, you will end up with horrendous prices per page! I have switched to "generics".
- The second paper tray is only for small-format photo paper, which is a pity! All the more so because removing/replacing paper in the main compartment is a laborious task, as there is no hole at the bottom to push the paper up.
Conclusion: Think carefully about how much you want to use the machine.
(Entry from 22.03.2014): I have had the predecessor to this printer for about 1 year (Canon MX715). Top functionality. I can put about 35 sheets in the automatic feeder and the device scans these sheets on both sides into a PDF. Cool function.
Recorded on 27.07.2015: I have now run out of cyan ink, although I never print in colour. I specifically want to print black and white only, but I can't. The printer refuses. Although there are 2 ink tanks for all colours and even for black, the printer refuses to work. It does not print with an empty cyan ink tank. This is of course a real disadvantage. The separate ink tanks suggest something that is not there. It is not even possible to scan as long as one ink cartridge is empty! Therefore, a deduction in the rating.
Addendum recorded on 4.11.2015: In the meantime I have found a solution to the problem with empty ink tanks: You can bypass the device continuing to print due to empty ink tanks (see description above from 27.7.2015) as follows. Simply press and hold the red cancel button at the top right for about 5-10 seconds, then it will print again.
I replaced my HP Photosmart B109a with this Canon Pixma MX925.
So far, I can already give the following comparison.
+ Beautiful design and space-saving, as the paper output can be folded in and opens automatically when printing.
+ Very low power consumption with 1.5 watts in standby mode
+ Prints very quietly
+ Vibrations from printing are minimal to non-existent. With the HP, the whole desk shakes
+ Much sharper image
+ 2 feeders for 1x A4 paper and 1x envelopes/photo paper
+ Correct duplex printing!
+ Correct duplex scan!
+ CloudPrint
- Just like every other ink pisser long waiting time before first print after standby time
All in all a TOP device!
Printer ok, variety of functions very good.
It is very tedious that the printer first runs the cleaning function when it is switched on. So far I have used more ink for cleaning than for printing.
I cannot recommend the printer.
Previously had an HP Photosmart 6510. After the warranty period, the black cartridge went out (even after replacing it, it didn't work anymore), which apparently wasn't just my case.
I therefore opted for a more expensive product, from another brand, and bought this device, which I clearly do not regret! For me personally, it's overkill, I never, ever need the extensive range of options, yet I'm thrilled and love using it :)
Definitely a recommendation, I would buy again!

Good wireless all in one small office unit. I bought this to home and I'm happy. Would buy this again. A bit noisy it is when printing, but you can't have everything for this price.
