These are the 14 best trailers from E3

E3 is over and has once again delighted us with an incredible number of cool trailers. Nobody can watch them all. So here is my selection of game trailers that you should have seen.

The E3 games trade fair in Los Angeles is like Christmas for gamers. For a whole week, it rains trailers, trailers, trailers. As a games editor, I'm lucky enough to have the time to watch most of them. Here are my personal highlights.

"Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2"

I've already written something rapturous about the first part and why I'm such a big fan of it. Part 2 not only looks good enough to eat (höhöhö), but also seems to offer a lot of playful freedom and decisions that significantly influence the course of the game.

"Chivalry 2"

I like chaotic multiplayer games and the first "Chivalry" already delivers that in spades. The sequel seems to follow in the same vein, only with even more blood splattered about. And with up to 64 players, it will be truly epic.

"Zelda: Breath of the Wild"

"Zelda: Breath of the Wild" was the first "Zelda" since the very first instalment that I played through to the end. It really grabbed me. The brief teaser for the direct sequel, something Nintendo has never actually done with the brand, has me rubbing my hands with glee. Give me a gritty "Zelda" in which I might finally get to control the namesake myself.

"Skatebird"

Just listen to this brilliant soundtrack. Ouh Yeah. The game controls like "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater" except that the flapping bird can keep its balance a little longer because it cheats with its wings.

"Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order"

There was a more detailed trailer, but the one from the Xbox presentation grabbed me a bit more. It gives me a warm feeling in my stomach and flashbacks to "Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast". ❤️.

"Watch Dogs Legion"

"Watch Dogs 2" was right up my street. I'm correspondingly hyped for the sequel. Ubisoft's promise that you can recruit every character in the game is impressively demonstrated in the trailer. Especially how the characters then react differently to each other. I can hardly wait to read all the amusing info texts about the population again.

"Wolfenstein Youngblood"

They already got me with the 80s synth sound. But the completely over-the-top action, buckets of blood and especially the two interesting main characters gave me the rest.

"Doom Eternal"

"Doom Eternal" blows the same horn. Only even louder and with a fat metal sound. Fuck yeah. I really get chicken skin and start headbanging. Wouldn't have thought that id could make this baller ballet even smoother.

"The Outer Worlds"

What's not to love about this trailer? Good soundtrack, humour, giant alien monsters and lots of action. Developer Obsidian is on a real roll at the moment.

"Songs Of Conquest"

I've been longing for another Heroes of Might and Magic. "Songs Of Conquest" seems as if it could rekindle that magical sense of adventure in me as I explore the fantasy landscapes with their many dangers.

"Maneater"

"Like GTA if you were a shark," the developer described it. If the game is anywhere near as fun as the trailer suggests, then it's a must-buy for me. I mean, you can give your shark a titanium upgrade for its teeth so it can eat humans better. How awesome is that?

"Planet Zoo"

"Jurassic World Evolution" was one of my highlights from last year and my first "Tycoon" game. The fact that I'll soon be able to build my own zoo and put cuddly hippos in it, which will hopefully break out and eat my guests like dinosaurs, makes me smile all over. I'm a simple soul.

"Unexplored 2"

The graphic style has something of a Studio Ghibli film about it, including the creativity of the landscape and the mysterious creatures. I'm just a sucker for games like this.

Bonus: Keanu Reeves

The "Cyberpunk 2077" trailer was nice, but I would have liked to see some gameplay. Keanu Reeves' performance and the reaction of the audience was simply divine. I wouldn't need a celebrity face in this game, but Keanu is ok. Keanu is fucking ok.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
