Since 1939, Hill's Pet Nutrition has represented a tradition of caring that began with the extraordinary veterinarian Dr. Mark Morris Senior. In the late 1930s, Dr. Morris was approached by blind Morris Frank for help because his guide dog was having kidney problems. Dr. Morris believed the disease was a result of poor nutrition and, without further ado, developed a new pet food mixture in his kitchen with his wife, Louise. He then gave the food to Mr. Frank, who fed it to his dog and distributed it to other dog owners with sick dogs. This was the birth of the original Raritan Ration B food for dogs with kidney problems and insufficiency.

Since 1976, Hill's has been part of the Colgate-Palmolive Company. Its pet nutrition products are available in 86 countries worldwide. Today, at Hill's Pet Nutrition Center in Topeka, pet nutrition specialists and internal medicine veterinarians work hand-in-hand with a group of pets to develop nutritious and delicious foods.
